Important: There is no single document list for every government vacancy. The advertisement, recruitment rules and instructions issued by the relevant commission or department always take priority. Use this guide to prepare your file, then match it line by line with the vacancy notice.

Quick Answer: What Should You Keep Ready?

Identity File

Valid CNIC, self-domicile and recent photographs.

Education File

Certificates, degrees, transcripts and DMCs from Matric onward.

Claim File

Experience, NOC/DPC, registration, disability or quota proof where applicable.

For FPSC physical verification, shortlisted candidates are instructed to bring originals and two sets of attested photocopies of the required records. Other recruiters may ask for a different number of sets, so do not treat “two sets” as a universal rule.

Core Documents Most Candidates Should Prepare

Valid CNICKeep the original plus clear front-and-back copies.
Self-domicile certificateIt should be issued in the candidate's own name.
Recent photographsUse the size, background and quantity stated in the advertisement.
Application recordPrinted application, tracking number or submitted-form copy when available.
Fee evidencePaid challan, PSID receipt or transaction record if a fee applies.
Test or call letterDownload the admission certificate when the recruiter issues it.

Why the Candidate's Own Domicile Matters

Quota eligibility is normally assessed against the domicile claimed in the application. FPSC's 2026 instructions specify a self-domicile issued by the competent authority; a domicile in the name of a father or husband is not accepted for its quota allocation. Candidates should therefore check the name, district, province or region and spelling before applying.

CNIC for the Test Centre

A photocopy alone may not be enough for entry. FPSC requires an original CNIC or passport with the downloaded admission certificate, while PPSC states that production of an original valid CNIC for a written examination or test is mandatory. Read the call letter for the exact identity rule and resolve an expired or lost CNIC before test day.

Educational Documents You May Need

School & College

Matric and Intermediate Records

Prepare certificates and result cards/DMCs. These records may also be used to verify your date of birth and subject background.

University

Degree and Transcript

Keep the final degree, provisional certificate if relevant, complete transcript and semester-wise DMCs where requested.

Technical

Diploma or Trade Certificate

For DAE, vocational, typing, IT or trade-based posts, keep the recognized diploma and marks record named in the advertisement.

Equivalence

HEC, IBCC or Council Proof

If the prescribed qualification requires equivalence, produce the certificate from the competent body. Do not assume a foreign or differently titled qualification will be accepted without it.

Does Every Degree Need HEC Attestation?

Not automatically. A recruiter may request verified or attested educational documents at scrutiny, but the exact requirement depends on the advertisement and the recruiting body. HEC provides its own online degree-attestation process and requires clear educational and identity records. Start attestation early only when it applies to your qualification or the vacancy instructions require it.

Result Must Exist by the Closing Date

Do not claim a completed qualification if the result has not been officially announced by the relevant board or university. FPSC treats the result declaration date on the transcript as the qualification-completion date and assesses it against the advertisement's closing date.

Additional Documents Required in Special Cases

Experience certificateRequired only where the post specifies experience.
DPC or NOCUsually required from serving government employees.
Professional registrationPEC, medical, nursing or another competent council when applicable.
Disability certificateIssued by the designated competent authority for a disability claim.
Minority or other quota proofOnly the evidence specified by the relevant recruitment rules.
Age-relaxation evidenceService, widow, deceased-employee or other proof for the claimed category.
Research publicationsCopies or details when publications are part of the eligibility criteria.
Armed-forces permissionPermission or release-related evidence where the rules require it.

What Makes an Experience Certificate Useful?

A vague letter saying that someone “worked with us” may fail scrutiny. Where FPSC experience is required, its prescribed guidance expects exact dates or duration, proof of a regular full-time paid role, nature of work or job description and issuance by an authorized officer. The experience must also meet the advertisement's relevance and post-qualification conditions.

Government Employees: Apply Through the Proper Route

Serving government employees should obtain departmental permission before applying when the applicable rules require it. Under FPSC instructions, the DPC reference number and issue date are entered in the online application, and the original DPC is later produced with the documents. A general office letter should not be substituted for the prescribed format without checking the recruitment instructions.

Documents Needed at Each Recruitment Stage

Before Applying

Read the advertisement, verify age, domicile, qualification, experience and closing date, then collect the supporting documents for every claim.

Online or Postal Application

Use the exact CNIC, name, dates and marks shown on your documents. Upload clear scans and retain the submitted form, fee proof and courier receipt where relevant.

Written Test

Carry the downloaded admission certificate and the original identity document required by the commission. Follow the call letter instead of relying on a social-media post.

Document Scrutiny

Arrange originals and the specified number of attested copy sets in the same order as the checklist or call letter. Bring additional evidence for any quota, equivalence or experience claim.

Interview and Appointment

Carry originals again if instructed. Medical fitness, police verification, character certificates or other joining records may be requested only after selection or at a later stage.

How to Prepare a Clean Document File

  • Create one master folder with separate sections for identity, domicile, education, experience, quota and application records.
  • Scan from the original document in colour and make sure seals, signatures, dates and all four corners are readable.
  • Use sensible filenames such as CNIC-front-back.pdf, BS-transcript.pdf and Experience-certificate.pdf.
  • Do not edit marks, dates, photographs, signatures or stamps. A mismatch between the application and originals can lead to rejection.
  • Keep originals separate from photocopy sets. Add simple dividers so the scrutiny officer can find each item quickly.
  • Check whether copies must be attested and who is authorized to attest them. Requirements can differ between recruiters.
  • Keep secure digital backups, but avoid sharing CNIC scans or certificates publicly or with unverified agents.
Privacy reminder: Official portals may require personal documents, but public Facebook groups, WhatsApp contacts and unofficial “job agents” should not receive your CNIC, signatures, banking information or complete certificates.

Document Mistakes That Can Cause Problems

Name or spelling mismatchCNIC, degree and application details do not match.
Wrong domicile proofThe candidate submits a parent or spouse's domicile instead of self-domicile where required.
Incomplete academic recordA degree is provided without the transcript, DMC or required equivalence.
Weak experience letterThe certificate lacks exact dates, duties, authorized signature or proof of relevant paid work.
Missing departmental permissionA serving employee applies without the required DPC/NOC details.
Unreadable uploadA dark, cropped or blurred scan prevents verification of a claim.
Expired registrationA professional licence is not valid on the required date.
Late qualificationThe result was announced after the vacancy's closing date.

Final Pre-Submission Checklist

My name and CNIC number match every form.
My claimed domicile is issued in my own name.
My required result was announced by the closing date.
My scans are complete, clear and correctly oriented.
My experience evidence covers the required period and duties.
I have the required DPC/NOC or quota evidence.
I saved the submitted form and payment proof.
I rechecked the official advertisement before submission.

Official Resources for Verification

Use these official pages to verify the applicable rules. A specific vacancy advertisement remains the primary instruction for that vacancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are attested photocopies required for every online application?

No. Some portals accept an online form without document copies at the initial stage and verify documents after shortlisting. Follow the advertisement and call letter.

Can I use my father's or husband's domicile?

For FPSC quota verification, the candidate must produce a self-domicile issued by the competent authority. Check the relevant recruiter’s rules for your case.

Is an NOC required from private employees?

Not as a universal government-jobs rule. DPC/NOC requirements mainly apply where the advertisement, service rules or employer conditions specifically require permission.

Should I send original documents with a postal application?

Do not send originals unless the official instructions explicitly demand them. Normally, candidates preserve originals for scrutiny or interview and send the required copies.

Prepare Once, Verify for Every Vacancy

A well-organized master file saves time, but careful verification prevents rejection. Before each application, compare your documents with the official advertisement, recruitment rules and latest notice issued by the relevant department or commission.
